Here is an interesting new addition to the Museum of British Surfing collection.
A ”Porton” resuscitator (Portable, Mark 1) in wood and glass case with printed ‘Instructions for Use’ pasted on both sides of case. It was manufactured by P B Cow and Company Ltd, in collaboration with Macclesfield Oiled Silks (Resuscitator Division) Ltd, Macclesfield, Cheshire sometime in the lates 50/early 60’s and was available for use by the lifeguards at the Woolacombe surf lifesaving club.
You can learn more about lifesaving and it’s place in the history of British surfing in our display in the Museum of British Surfing.
We are open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 3pm throughout the summer.
