Pupils from Braunton Academy joined forces with children from their new partner school Kingsley Academy, at Hounslow in London for a visit to the Museum of British Surfing today.
The educational visit was part of a programme of events for the 24, Year 8 pupils which included surfing lessons at nearby Croyde beach.
During their time at the surf museum, pupils heard a talk from founder Peter Robinson about the history of surfing in the UK and Devon, and the effect on marine life from litter finding its way onto our beaches and into the sea.
Among the most popular exhibits were big wave surfer Andrew Cotton’s surfboard & film, the touch screen computer in the current British surfing pioneers exhibition ‘The First Wave’, and the museum’s original 1976 surfing pinball machine!
